James is a clinical psychologist and organisational development and change specialist.
He was educated at the Universities of Pretoria, Johannesburg, Geneva and South Africa. James has held positions as human resources manager, strategy consultant and consulting principal at several large organisations before founding his own specialist consulting practice: KnowHouse in 1998. Since then James has consulted primarily to knowledge based organisations, mainly in telecommunications and financial services.
James has advised the likes of MTN, Standard Bank, DeBeers, Pepsi co (Middle East), Saudi Basic Industries, SA Breweries, ABSA bank and many others on the dynamics of brand-led organisational alignment, change and development.
James lives in Johannesburg and divides his time more or less equally between local and international assignments.
Christo van Staden is a learning designer and facilitator with extensive experience in the fields of employee attraction and retention (and other aspects of talent management), customer centricity and service, internal communications, change management, and organisational culture – for instance, values and living the brand.
Some of his key learning design projects include an engagement process for crafting an employee value proposition (originally for Standard Bank, since adapted and used at a number of corporations, e.g. MTN, Mercantile Bank and Namdeb); a values programme as well as a Living the Brand programme for MTN; a performance management training programme used at several companies, including government service CIPRO; a customer service learning journey for Arivia.kom; emotional intelligence and stress management programmes; story-telling and creativity workshops; and knowledge management training and coaching processes.
He is an experienced facilitator, having facilitated programmes locally across South Africa, in West Africa and the Middle East, in fields ranging from creativity, story-telling and movement, to culture-shifting engagements such as living the values and the brand programmes.
