People do not exchange their personal values for organisational values. They only connect to organisational values through their personal values. We created a “Living the Values” programme for MTN where employees were engaged to reflect on their personal values, connect these to the five core MTN values, and through storytelling develop deeper understanding both of the empowering quality of these values and the challenges and opportunities for improvement posed by these values.
In similar vein, we developed a “Living the Vision, Living the Values” programme for Standard Bank. In addition to the development of a values-based behaviour charter, we built a process for discovering and exploring the Standard Bank vision, and making a commitment live and act in line with the vision and values.
